【VY2V3】 公式デモ曲 Jet Black【濡レ羽色】English translation + romaji lyrics

漢字を読むのが嫌い。I stayed up til midnight looking up every. single. kanji for these lyrics and I feel real pain

この歌詞を訳すのはかなり難しかったので、間違いを見つけたら知らせてください!

蹴飛ばす感覚 射抜く衝撃
朧な十六夜 夜陰裂き 渡る銃声
刹那の斬撃 穿つ風穴
揺蕩う西風 濡レ羽色 外套揺らす

ketobasu kankaku, inuku jougeki
oboro na izayoi, yokage saki, wataru juusei
setsuna no zangeki, ugatsu kazaana
tayutau seifuu, nurebairo, gaitou yurasu

the feelings that I kick away, the impact of shooting through
a hazy sixteen-day-old moon, an extending gunshot rips up the dead of night
the moment's slashing attack, the ventilators that are put on
in the swaying west wind, a jet black cloak swings

そがひに しののめ
ひきさぐ みとらし

soga hi ni shinonome
hikisagu mitorashi

dawn in the days of neglect
tears up my understanding*

現世廻る時に相俟って 軽く捻る回転弾倉
足下掻き乱す硝子(ガラス)の瓶 蹴飛ばし目もくれぬ
流鏑馬射貫くはのっぺら坊で 行交う須臾に打留め消える
辻を斬る蹄音のみ 響かせ 乱麻を今日も断つ

utsushiyo mawaru toki ni aimatte, karuku hineru kaiten dansou
ashimoto kakimidasu garasu no bin, tokebashi me mo kurenu
yabusame inuku wa noppera bou de, ikikau shibaraku ni uchidome kieru
tsuji wo kiru hidzumeoto nomi, hibikase, ranma wo kyou mo tatsu

when this present world revolves together with the lightly twisted rotation of revolver cylinders
the bottle of glass that disturbs my step, I kick it away without my eyes growing dark
shooting archery by horseback with smoothness, after a while of coming and going, the end of the match vanishes
nothing but hooves that slice the streets, be heard far away! chaos is severed today too

そがひに しののめ

若葉に雨粒 綾なす水面
幽かな五月雨 宵闇に霞んで往く
黒鉄駻馬に 跨り奔る
利手に硝煙 瀝青に 紅色濡らす

wakaba ni amatsubu, ayanasu minamo
kasuka na samidare, yoiyami ni kasunde yuku
kurogane kanba ni matagari hashiru
kikite ni shouen, rekisei ni beniiro nurasu

raindroplets on new leaves, the richly colorful surface of the water**
a weak early summer rain grows hazy in the dusk
straddling and running on an iron unruly horse
gunpower smoke in my dominant hand, it soaks red on the asphalt

儚し夢の跡を彩って 淡く墨に霞む賤男染
足下揺らす皐月の風は下天を駆け抜ける
離昇す鴉 灰色の海に 鵺鳥ののどようを 捕らえる
向ける銃口も斉しく 喰らう 今宵もまた一人

hakanashi yume no ato wo irodotte, awaku sumi ni kasumu shidzuosome
ashimoto yurasu satsuki no kaze wa geten wo kakenukeru
rishousu karasu, haiiro no umi ni, nuedori no nodo you wo toraeru
mukeru juukou mo hitoshiku, kurau, koyoi mo mata hitori

color the remains of short-lived dreams, the month of May that a lowly stained man who grows hazy in pale ink***
the shaking wind of May at my feet runs through the lower heavens
a crow that lifts off by an ashen sea captures something like a golden thrush's voice
the turning gun point is also similar, I receive****, tonight again I am alone

shooting archery by horseback, a view that builds up enemies

Translation notes:

* since these two verses are written completely in hiragana, it makes it kind of hard to distinguish what sort of words were intended to be used, so this is probably an inaccurate translation. that and my crappy Japanese listening skills does not help.

** the word "ayanasu" apparently means "to decorate with many beautiful colors" or "to have a rich variety in colors/patterns", so I just simplified it and used the word "colorful" instead.

*** 賤男染 is such an obscure term that I could not find even one result in any of the dictionaries I use! so I googled it in Japanese hoping to find some sort of meaning to it. apparently there are obscure and not-very-commonly used Japanese names for months of the year, and this is one of them: 賤男染月 (shidzu osome dzuki), which may be the name for the month of May. (Also, see the comments below for more clarification on what this word may mean!)

**** receive as in "I receive a blow". from a gun I guess because this song is about war I'm pretty sure

  1. Hi! I decided to look into one of these things you weren't sure about! I searched kanji separately. When I looked up 賤 it said it meant "lowly" or "poverty" as well as "I' used by male entertainers. It's pronounced shizu. 男 is simply "man" and is usually pronounced "otoko" and in rare cases is pronounced "o". 染 means "dyed" and is pronounced "so(me)" So the word literally mans a lowly stained man, making the line "Colour the remains of short-lived dreams, a (lowly) stained man who grows hazy in/on pale ink (idk if 淡く墨 is a metaphor) I feel this fits the song's theme a bit better.

    Sorry for bothering you!

    1. Thanks for commenting! That's really nice of you to look this up!! I hadn't thought about looking up each separate kanji for the combined word at the time, as sometimes the word with all the kanji combined can mean something entirely different, haha. But that does make sense, and I agree, it fits the song's theme better. And don't be sorry, you're not a bother to me at all! Thank you so much for taking the time to point this out to me!! I appreciate it!
