青葉市子 - Ichiko Aoba いきのこりぼくら ikinokori bokura (we're survivors) English translation + romaji lyrics

The video below is apparently the official music video for the song, but it's shorter than the full version, which you can listen to here or go buy on iTunes. I like how the song is relaxing and quiet despite its dark story.

amagumo no akari de hitomi wo tsunaide
youyaku tadoritsuita koko wa ookina nihon kaoku
nagai tonneru wo nukeru made kowakatta yo ne
hotto shite suwarikonda

Our eyes connect in the light of the rain clouds
At last, we've finally arrived, here there is a large Japan building
It was pretty scary until we came out of a long tunnel
feeling relieved, we sat down to rest

hidoku yogoreta ashi no ura
kega shiteru no ka sukoshi itai kedo
dore ga boku no chi na no ka
wakaranai ne

The soles of our feet became horribly dirty
Are you injured? even though it only hurts a little bit
Which of this blood is mine?
I don't know

There's precious life at the top of the huge mountain
We huddle our bodies together, how warm, while holding our temperatures close

ookina yama no fumoto ni wa shisha no kuni
bokura wo miagete wa hikari no tama todokete

There's a country of the dead at the base of the huge mountain
Looking up at us and sending a ball of light

bosutonbaggu ni wa mikka bun no fuku to ano ko no shashin

(I've got) 3 days' worth of clothes and a picture of that child in my travelling bag
Around this time, somewhere out there, they might be crying or they might be laughing

atarashii nakigara wo kyoukoku he otosu
toritachi ga sukasazu suibande sora takaku hakondeku

Dropping a fresh corpse into the ravine
Without delay, the birds peck at it, high in the sky, carrying it away

mainichi no fuukei zutto tsudzuku ne
narenakya
ikinokori bokura

The everyday scenery will always go on
I've gotta get used to it
We're survivors
